Und unten folgen noch eine Menge anderer Kurznachrichten, die sich in den letzten Monaten im Twitter-Account von SYBE RISPENS science writing angesammelt haben.
Nun werden Sie sich vielleicht fragen: Ist das Mikrobloggen nicht zu oberflächlich für science writing?
Da einzelne Textnachrichten aus maximal 140 Zeichen bestehen können, gibt es tatsächlich erhebliche Beschränkungen.
Einen Gedanken so zu komprimieren, dass er in gerade mal hundert Zeichen passt, das führt schnell zu einem nichtssagenden digitalen Stakato. (So mancher Satz aus Immanuel Kants "Kritik der reinen Vernunft" würde ein paar Hundert "Tweets" erfordern - und keiner würde ihn, in Stücke zerhackt, noch verstehen).
Alexander Eximan und Emmett Rensin haben diese Idee ad absurdum geführt, in ihrem witzigen Buch:
"Twitterature. The World's Greatest Books Retold Through Twitter".
Trotz aller offensichtlichen Beschränkungen ist Twitter ein interessantes Medium. Tim O'Reilly bringt dazu ein paar gute Gründe in seinem Blogpost

Denn auch wenn nur ein Minibeitrag möglich ist, hat Twitter anderen Sozialen Netzwerken wie zum Beispiel Xing oder Facebook voraus, dass die Darstellung von Ideen überhaupt möglich ist. Wer die Twitter-Frage "What's happening? (diese Frage ist zumindest schon mal besser als das bisherige "What are you doing?") als "Was liest du gerade?" oder "Was denkst du gerade?" interpretiert, kann jenseits von Selbstdarstellungen à la Xing etwas Aktuelles von sich geben. Auch wenn einzelne Tweets nur so etwas sind wie das leise Vorlesen von jemandem, der über die Zeitung oder ein Buch gebeugt ist: Mehrere Tweets zusammen geben doch ein recht klares Bild vom Autor. Was interessiert ihn? Welche Medien liest er? Was sind die Themen, die er aufgreift?
